The seasons are the rhythm of our lives. They help us come home to the world we live in and remind us of the ever-changing landscape around us.
I grew up in a home brimming with festivities for every season and I've taken many of them into my adult life. Every year, I co-host Easter egg decorating afternoons, May Day Maypole dances, midsummer Shakespeare celebrations, Christmas carol sings and much more. In this, I am always inspired by the poet John O'Donohue and his great love of the seasons alongside my Steiner school education.
Some of the seasonal practices seem silly (when was the last time you danced around a Maypole!?) but they are wonderful ways of building community and connecting to the traditions we so easily forget. I look forward to finding more seasonal celebrations to invite friends to participate in!
