I came across a great guide written by my friend Emma Taggart for NCVO/BOND called Inspiring Supporter Action. Have a read - some points that stood out for me below;
- 75% of the public have campaigned on behalf of a charity and almost everyone would consider it. People want to campaign - we are just particularly bad at getting people involved!
- Relationships -already in community groups, faith communities, trade unions, support groups
- Experiences - personally effected by issue - health
- First step into activism is often despite the campaign issue, rather than because of it. They've been brought along by family member or friend - and only develop passion for the issue after starting to campaign on it. What does this tell about where largest potential new activists are? One step away from our existing campaigners!
